Wheyhey Low Sugar Chocolate Brownie Sundae 🍨
Method:
The process is simple. Add chia seeds and almond milk to a bowl. Once you leave it sit, the chia seeds will absorb the milk and take on a puffy, rice-pudding feel. It's deliciously filling with a taste and texture not dissimilar to a Muller Rice Pudding.
Chia pudding can be added to the list of gluten free recipes that can be enjoyed at any time of day. Chia pudding is seen as one of the 'kings of healthy desserts' but they are as suited to breakfast as they are to post-dinner festivities. Chia seeds are full of healthy fats and protein, giving you a slow release of energy that will last for hours. In our opinion, that's an ideal way to start the day.
Like protein pancakes and smoothies that have gone before it, chia pudding is another of those gluten free recipes that leaves a lot of room for personal finishes. Some people add in Greek yoghurt or berries. For our creation, we have included a few of our favourites - almond butter and Wheyhey Salted Caramel Sugar-Free Ice Cream.
After a Summer of fun, a lot of us will be thinking about getting back to a healthy routine and back on track with our training. For some, this mission might seem daunting. Visions of plain rice cakes, dry salads and celery sticks without a treat in sight. But, healthy eating doesn't have to be all doom and gloom. Take this recipe for example, you are using sugar-free ice cream that contains a heap of protein. Then there is the chia pudding. All natural ingredients - honey, almond milk and chia seeds. And don't even get us started on organic almond butter. A healthy treat that is almost too good for words.
So, as you start into the winter months, you have to make a choice. Do you want to go down the road of doom and gloom or will you be healthy the Wheyhey way? When one side brings salted caramel sugar-free ice cream, we certainly know which option we'd choose!
3 or 4 Tbsp Organic Almond Butter
1 Tbsp Honey
200ml of Almond Milk
4 Tbsp of Chia Seeds
1 Tub of Wheyhey Salted Caramel Gluten Free Ice Cream
We have to commend the Italians and their way with food. They are the true masters of simplicity. While the rest of the world is getting hung up on adding new and unusual toppings to pizza and stuffing the crusts with barbecue sauce, the Italians keep it simple with tomato and cheese. Go on a trip to Italy and you will bask in the wonder of simplicity - plain bread with olive oil or pasta served with a solitary companion. We have to thank the Italians for bringing us such a range of simple and delicious foods. And now, we have another classic dessert to be grateful for. A gluten-free dessert that is also sugar-free and very tasty, meet - The Affogato.
In the last few months, we have been celebrating all things gluten free. With our gluten free ice cream and now gluten free brownies, we wanted to add some gluten free recipes. We have been experimenting with all sorts of concoctions but it doesn't get more simple than an affogato. It's the beverage/dessert hybrid that we can't believe we didn't think of earlier.
An affogato is the marriage of two of our favourites - coffee and ice cream. To be more precise, espresso and Wheyhey Salted Caramel Sugar Free Ice cream. The word "affogato" literally translates to "drowned" in Italian. This basically describes the whole process. It's cold ice cream drowned in coffee. Simple is best.
This deceptively simple gluten free recipe comes with a lot of benefits. Studies have shown that when consumed in moderation, has a superfood-like quality. It is full of healthy antioxidants, even more than the much hyped green tea. It can improve cognitive function, curb depression and plays a role in maintaining a healthy liver. Coffee also acts as an appetite suppressant. This is a particularly useful tool when you are hungry, at a loss for what to eat. When you might otherwise be forced to eat junk food, coffee can fill the temporary gap.
That's one ingredient, so far, so good. Match that with a sugar-free tub of Wheyhey Salted Caramel. Adding a kick of protein to a quick dessert that is less than 100 calories in its entirety.
This is one of our favourite ever gluten free recipes as it's healthy, delicious, a little bit luxurious and oh-so-simple to prepare. It almost feels unnecessary to add in the below, but we will do it anyway. A less than five line recipe that takes more time to read than to prepare. Enjoy!
1 Shot of Espresso. (We used a Nespresso machine, feel free to make a mug of coffee if you need.)
1 Tub of Wheyhey Salted Caramel Sugar Free Ice Cream
1 Wheyhey Chocolate Coconut Brownie (Optional, but we really do insist!)
Scoop your Wheyhey Salted Caramel Mini into a bowl.
Add in a shot of espresso.
That's it, now dig in.
As it's still technically a coffee. Why not finish the dessert with a Wheyhey Chocolate Coconut Brownie. Coffee's new favourite playmate.
Enjoy!
Key Lime Pie is one of those desserts that you might have heard of but, for our UK audience especially, mightn't have had the pleasure of tasting. Just like Boston cream pie and pumpkin pie, key lime pie is an American favourite that has only slowly been adopted this side of the Atlantic. We don't know why though, key lime pie is absolutely delicious and we want to see more of it!
Traditionally, key lime pie is made with a creamy meringue topping consisting of egg yolks, sweetened condensed milk, and key lime juice, on a shortcrust pie base. The citric taste of the lime brings a refreshing twist to a very light dish. Key lime pie done the Wheyhey way is a little different. It's another one of our delicious gluten-free recipes that are to be paired with our Wheyhey gluten-free ice cream.
All Hail Avocado - King Ingredient of Gluten Free Recipes
We must admit, we have become obsessed with creating alternative-recipes. Taking out the highly processed, sugar laden ingredients and subbing in some all natural goodness. One ingredient that we love to use in this way are avocados. They may be the superfood that defines a generation. Avocados are full of vitamins, minerals, fibre and healthy fats. A well-ripened avocado brings a creamy smooth texture to gluten free recipes. We've used avocados before in creating a gluten free mousse and it's more of the same here.
Avocados combined with lime juice, coconut oil and coconut milk, bring a smooth texture that mimicks the fluffy meringue in an all natural way. The pie crust is created with all wholesome ingredients too - desiccated coconut, cashews, almonds, sea salt and vanilla extract. Top it all off with a generous helping of Salted Caramel Sugar Free Ice Cream. Avocados, cashews, coconuts, almonds. Together they mean one thing - you've got another show stopper to add to your list of gluten free recipes!
Try out the recipe for your yourself below. Please note, although preparation is a doddle, remember to give yourself plenty of time for the pie to set. Enjoy!

Something you may know about us here at Wheyhey is that we love pancakes. To us they signify all that we love about the fun-loving, healthy lifestyle that we are passionate about. Pancakes can be made with uber-healthy ingredients and still feel like a treat. A health consciously made pancake retains all the benefits of eating right while having the added excitement of an impromptu pancake day.
A while back we shared one of our favourite pancake recipes, the melt-in-the-middle pancakes. That is one recipe we definitely suggest trying out. However, we know there are a huge number of gluten free diet followers in the Wheyhey community. We wanted to let them in on the pancake fun. These gluten free pancakes are also sugar free and ,with some extra Wheyhey goodness, full of protein.
We tinkered around and found the ultimate minimalistic gluten free pancakes recipe. In all honesty, these could be made with only two ingredients - banana and eggs. If you want, you can create your pancake batter with just these two items alone. However, we wanted to give these gluten free pancakes an extra kick. So, we added in salt, cinnamon and vanilla extra. A small add-on that makes a lot of difference. Below we will show you how to make pancakes, but first let's talk about the final flourish.
We believe that the magic of pancakes is in the toppings. If you want to keep it minimalistic, feel free to ignore the add-ons but we just can't help ourselves. What you decide to put on your gluten free pancakes is completely up to you. However, we'll give a few suggestions.
We like to keep it healthy and tasty with our toppings. For these gluten free pancakes we suggest using some Wheyhey Salted Caramel Sugar-Free Ice Cream, chia seeds, a drizzle of honey, blueberries and, the piece de resistance, chopped up Wheyhey Chocolate Coconut Brownie. Lots of protein, lots of flavour and a whole lot of fun. Get the full low-down below. Make sure to tag us in photos of the final product and help spread the inspiration.

A beautifully velvet chocolate mousse, topped with creamy chocolate ice cream and brownie pieces. It doesn't exactly scream healthy desserts does it? Maybe not usually but mousse done the Wheyhey way is something a little different.
This alternative chocolate mousse, made with bananas, avocado and dates is one of our favourite gluten free recipes. It's just like the real thing but with a nutritious kick. Full of chocolatey goodness and rich flavours, healthy desserts don't get much better than this. Scratch that. Desserts in general don't get much better than this.
At Wheyhey, our sugar free ice cream and chocolate brownies are all gluten free. So, we wanted to create some gluten free recipes to go along with it. But what makes this one so special?
Traditional chocolate mousse is made with lots of sugar, whipped cream and sugar laden chocolate. This high sugar content can give you a quick release of energy before bringing you crashing down to earth.
As is the case with many of our gluten free recipes, our take on chocolate mousse is made with all natural ingredients. The dates, avocado, banana and coconut oil gives it a good helping of healthy fats. These healthy fats help to supply a slow release of energy. Leaving you satisfied for hours and ready to take on the world.
But the best part about this healthy take on an old classic - it taste phemonable. Don't just take our word for it. Try it out for yourself below:
1 Large Avocado
1 Large Banana
40g of Cacao Powder
Handful of Pitted Medjool Dates (5-8)
75ml of Almond Milk
1 Tbsp of Coconut Oil
A Pinch of Salt
1 Tub of Wheyhey Sugar Free Chocolate Ice Cream
1 Wheyhey Chocolate Coconut Brownie (chopped into pieces)
Handful of Blueberries (Optional)
When you think of pastries, a classic eclair is something that immediately springs to mind. A soft doughy pastry filled with cream and topped with chocolate sauce. There is a whole lot to love about eclairs and they are an old favourite for many people. They're the delicious treats that are rarely made at home but always seem to make an appearance on the big occasions. The trips to the fancy restaurant, family parties and weddings.
Eclairs are definitely nostalgia boosting and something we would like in our lives a little more. Now with another one of our gluten free recipes we have a healthy alternative to a classic endulgent. We've got a feeling eclairs are going to reappear into our lives in a big way.
Being 'gluten free' is another benefit of the delicious treats we create here at Wheyhey. Gluten free brownies, gluten free ice cream. Now we want to create delicious gluten free recipes to go along with them. Eclairs are not something that usually fall into the gluten free category. However, with this recipe you've got a gluten free option that is even better than the real thing. The Wheyhey Sugar Free Salted Caramel centre offers something a little different and provides a protein boost.
Another one of our show stopping gluten free recipes that is sure to impress your guests. Anyway, enough talking. Time to get down to the gluten free goodness. This is Wheyhey's take on an old favourite. We hope you enjoy it.
75g Dove Farm Gluten Free Flour
50g Grass Fed Butter (cubed)
150ml Water
2 Eggs (beaten)
1 Tbsp Xylitol
100g 90% Dark Chocolate (chopped)
100ml Unsweetened Almond Milk
1 Tbsp of Xylitol
Summer is well and truly here and we want to help you give it a little kickstart with one of our favourite mocktail recipes. The warm weather means there is more temptation than ever to swerve off course. With this mocktail recipe, we have a delicious alcohol-free, healthy cocktail which will keep you on track while still enjoying the party.
When you hear cocktail you might think of a crazy concoction with different ingredients and unusual flavours, crushed ice and a heavy helping of alcohol. Of course, it’s also mixed together by a maniacally smiling Tom Cruise. A mocktail on the other hand is the sensible non-alcoholic, non-Tom Cruise version. Still delicious and lots of fun.
A Bloody Mary is a very popular cocktail and one of those drinks that is heavily experimented on. Each place you go might have a different take on it. Usually it is made up of vodka, salt, pepper, lemon, tomato juice and a blend of veggies. A stick of celery is added as the final piéce de résistance. Sounds weird but it’s oddly delicious.
The ‘Bloody Mary Mocktail’ or ‘Virgin Mary’ is even more heavily experimented on. Our version is a strawberry drink with a large dollop of sugar free ice-cream, some quirky ingredients and a whole lot of goodness. A delicious, high protein dessert which will keep you on track without missing out on the fun.
We don’t know about you but when we hear a mention of “Layer Cake” we are thinking Daniel Craig, Sienna Miller, guns, gangsters and crime. We might need to stop watching so many movies. The more commonly recognized interpretation is a lot less James Bond and a lot more delicious.
A layer cake is exactly as it sounds. Typically it’s a cake with 3-5 layers of contrasting cakes on top of one another. Our layer cakes are three layers high. There are two layers of healthy chocolate brownies with a smooth layer of Wheyhey sugar free protein ice cream sandwiched in between. As delicious as it sounds and with a healthy twist.
A chocolate cake with two layers of chocolate brownies and a layer of ice cream. From the outside looking in, this might sound like the ultimate healthy diet destroyer. Not so, at Wheyhey we love nothing more than creating healthy recipes than will keep you on track.
With this delicious creation we use lots of natural ingredients. Almond flour, vanilla extract, eggs, cacao powder, coconut oil. Not only that but with a couple of scoops of whey protein powder and our sugar free protein ice cream, our layer cakes are also packed with protein.
Healthy desserts that help you recover from training. Doesn’t get much better than that.
For the chocolate brownie layer
For the ice cream layer
The first part is creating our healthy chocolate brownies.
The brownie are done. Now It’s time to put the layers together.
As bombs go, this chocolate and peanut butter protein bomb is pretty fun. The thing is, it’s not any normal bomb - it’s a timed bomb.
On one hand we wanted to make a melt-in-your-mouth protein cake. But we also wanted to create a healthy dessert that was ready in minutes. The only catch was, to make a cake that lasts it usually needs to set in the oven for at least twenty minutes. We ain’t got time for that!
So, we decided to compromise. This healthy dessert is ready in minutes but, be warned, it’s not built to last.
You’ll have to eat it as soon as it’s done. Poor you!
Explosively Healthy RecipesThis is one of our most delicious high protein snacks yet. The chocolate cake is moist and delicious. It’s made with natural ingredients and is rich in protein.
The Wheyhey sugar-free protein ice cream and gooey peanut butter are what gives it that explosion of flavour. It’s messy, it’s tasty, it’s high in protein and soon to be one of your favourite healthy desserts. Time to get started, the clock is ticking.
Ah, the milkshake, what a nostalgic treat, it really takes you back. We have fond memories of the godfather of ice cream desserts. As a kid enjoying a creamy milkshake during summer holidays, or how about with a burger and chips on family nights out? Nothing tops a good milkshake. They are delicious, soothing and the staple of any healthy diet.
Wait, that can’t be right. The staple of any healthy diet? That must have been a typo? Amm, no. Old style milkshakes were high in sugar, calories and general badness. But that is why Wheyhey was created - so you could enjoy guilt free healthy desserts.
By subbing in our sugar-free Wheyhey protein ice cream and some healthy extras, we created one of our favourite high protein snacks. Our vanilla ice cream creation is low in sugar and high in protein. Not only that, with seeds and a banana, it is chocked full of healthy fats, which keeps you fuller for longer. This protein shake is perfect for post training or simply on a hot summer’s day. It’s one of our favourite healthy desserts to have after dinner. But, with all this goodness, no time of the day is ruled out. Protein milkshake for breakfast anyone?
This healthy protein shake is not only delicious, with just a handful of steps, it’s incredibly easy to prepare.
We have a few questions we want to ask you. To save time, we’ve also taken the liberty of answering them for you.
Question 1 - Have you heard of getting your five a day? Ans - Five pieces of fruit a day? Yes of course. That little nugget has been drilled into us since we were in diapers.
Perfect. Question 2 - What is the easiest way of getting your five a day? Ans - Okay, that one is easy. It’s obviously putting all the fruit into a blender and drinking it down as a smoothie.
Very good, now the tough one...
Question 3 - Do you ever need to get your five a day but want something a bit more substantial than a smoothie? We’ll leave that one open but for us the answer was definitely - ‘yes’. We all love a smoothie but sometimes you just want a bowl of something delicious. That ladies and gentlemen is why we created this Wheyhey ‘Fruits and Greens’ Smoothie Bowl.
This smoothie recipe has it all. There’s healthy greens, lots of fruit, sugar free ice cream and lots of protein. Preparation couldn’t be easier. Create your smoothie in a blender with an apple, banana, freshly squeezed orange, mint, spinach and Wheyhey protein ice cream. Add the mixture to a bowl and top with fresh fruit and seeds. Healthy and delicious, it is one of our favourite high protein snacks.
To celebrate the release of our latest flavour of sugar free ice cream, Salted Caramel, we have something really special. A delicious Salted Caramel and Banana Pie. We love sharing easy recipes for high protein snacks and other simple snack ideas. When it comes to maintaining a healthy diet, our best advice is that simplicity trumps all. However, sometimes it is good to have something a little special in your locker. This Salted Caramel and Banana Pie is that little something. A showstopper sure to impress your guests and cause widespread, uncontrollable lip-licking.
This salted caramel and banana pie is not your usual dessert. Traditional caramel pies are full of sugar and cream but this is a little different. With this recipe we forgot the usual layer of whipped cream and replace it with our with sugar free protein ice cream. Then we packed the pie with tonnes of wholesome ingredients. But don’t worry, with dates, vanilla extract and sugar free maple syrup, it’s not lacking in the sweetness department. A healthy alternative to an old favourite, this caramel pie is bound to make you very popular.
Okay let’s break it down and start with the pie crust.
Next it’s the caramel filling.
Bringing the base and filling together
Serve individual slices on a small plate with a dollop of Greek yoghurt. Standby for heavy praise. Enjoy!
]]>There are some recipes that, for some strange reason, we think are outside of our capabilities. A yoghurt and ice cream bowl with fruit, easy. Wheyhey protein ice cream with bananas and chocolate syrup, sign me up. A paleo apple pie, wait a second, there is no way I can make that. I am out. We thought the same but, what do you know, making apple pie is easy as… damn, can’t think of a good word to put here.
Apple pie is made with a pastry base, apple filling and it’s illegal in most countries to serve without ice cream. (Well, maybe not, but it should be!) It is a family favourite and it’s delicious. The recipe we created is paleo friendly. For those new to the paleo world, the paleo diet includes only food that would have been available to the caveman. So, think mainly non-processed foods. That means this apple pie is full of whole, natural ingredients. It’s delicious, easy to make and bound to impress your guests. The recipe we put together serves two people. Although, if you chose to ignore that last statement, grab a tub of Wheyhey protein ice cream and eat the whole lot by yourself, we couldn’t really blame you.

We wanted to come up with a recipe for a healthy ice cream sandwich. But, when our team got together, we went a little overboard. Not only does this protein packed dessert contain cookies and chocolate ice cream. We got our two other favourites involved also – peanut butter and chocolate chips. It is so delicious, we actually think we might have gone a bit too far this time.
There’s more good news, our ice cream sandwiches are low in sugar (including sugar free chocolate ice cream) and made with lots of healthy ingredients. Frankly, we are a little proud of our creation. We hope you enjoy it.

Frappuccinos have gained massive popularity in recent years. On a sunny day, it brings together the best of both worlds. You might be craving an ice cream but are also in dire need of your caffeine fix. A frappuccino steps in as the perfect medium. A blend of crushed ice, coffee, syrup and cream, it’s the milk shake’s sophiscated relative. But, while enjoying your frappuccino, you may be blissfully unaware that this seemingly innocent indulgence could be ruining your healthy diet. Typically tipping the scales at 500+ calories with over 50 grams of sugar, this demon is a lot less innocent than it appears.
We are proactive here at Wheyhey!. We wanted you all to be able to enjoy a nice frappuccino without feeling the ill effects. We wanted you to be able to up your protein intake without falling victim to the sugar demons. So, we gathered a team of scientists together and got to work. With the sun beaming down outside, our team stayed in the darkness of the lab, meticulously testing out dozens of concoctions. Days turned into nights. Finally, our team emerged triumphantly holding a protein packed drink that is even better than the real thing. Satisfying your caffeine and chocolate cravings with sugar free ice cream, this is a guaranteed summer hit. You’re welcome!

I don’t think it is too extreme to say that overnight oats have been a revelation. Getting breakfast right is so important to sustaining a healthy lifestyle. But, oftentimes, breakfast is skipped due to morning laziness, putting you on the backfoot for the day. You reach for the sugary snack when you crash mid-morning and again in the afternoon. You might think that laziness is not an issue but we can all be prone to it in the early hours.
Wheyhey! Overnight Oats are the perfect remedy. In the evening, before your slumber and when you are full of energy, is the time to act. Simply prepare a bowl of oats with cold milk, whey protein, yoghurt and some healthy extras. Leave it in the fridge overnight and you are left with a deliciously healthy morning feast. Then, to top it off, add in a few scoops of sugar free, Wheyhey! protein ice cream. This balanced, ready-to-go protein porridge is packed with protein and slow releasing energy that will keep you going all morning long. The day may as well throw in the towel, you got this one.

Doughnuts have made an unlikely comeback to the mainstream. A long time favourite of police officers and cartoon characters, now doughnut shops are popping up at every corner. Instead of watching from the sidelines, we decided to join in the fun with our healthy doughnut recipe. These protein snacks are perfect when having coffee at home with friends. Our doughnut recipe allows you to maintain a healthy lifestyle while joining in on the doughnut hype. These healthy desserts needed a protein hit so we topped them off with a few scoops of Wheyhey! sugar free ice cream. The results are incredible, we hope you enjoy it.

Unless you’ve been taking up residence under a rock somewhere, you probably noticed the worldwide obsession with protein pancakes. In recent times, pancakes have gone from sugary indulgence to healthy mainstay. We can thank the pioneer who first whisked eggs, banana and whey protein for this glorious shift.
Not only have pancakes become a staple of the gym goer’s diet, there seems to be a silent battle to crown the ruler of the protein world. The fight for best protein pancake recipe is in full swing. Each weekend, our Instagram feed is flooded with entrants vying for the top prize. At Wheyhey! we would like to announce that, thanks to @joannalowy, we believe we’ve found a winner.

Eton mess is one of the most loved British desserts. The traditional Eton Mess recipe combines crushed meringue, double whipped cream, caster sugar, puréed strawberries and chopped berries. When the main ingredient is double whipped cream, it can be tricky to combine Eton mess with healthy living. Never fear, Wheyhey! is here to save the day.
